Annual Workshop

We are delighted to announce that abstract submission is now open for the 9th Annual Geomorphology Association of Ireland workshop on April 11 (11am - 5pm) in Galway city in 2024. 

Workshop title. "From land to sea: the role of Geomorphology in understanding and managing Ireland's landforms".

The goal of the workshop is to bring together geomorphologists in Ireland with a view to sharing research and fostering interdisciplinary communication and collaboration. Although there will be a strong emphasis on presenting research, an important part of the day comprises a panel discussion to openly discuss the state-of-Geomorphology in Ireland today & identify opportunities for Geomorphology the coming years as Ireland starts to implement new Climate- and Nature-focused policies that will impact how terrestrial and marine environments are managed.

The workshop is hosted jointly by the GAI, Ryan Institute, and the University of Galway.

Abstract due date: 16 February, 5pm. You can indicate on the abstract submission your presentation format preference: oral presentation, poster presentation, or hot plot (1 slide; <3 mins). 

To submit an abstract, please email Dr Eugene Farrell (eugene.farrell@universityofgalway.ie) a document with the following details: 

1. Presentation preference: oral or poster or hot plot (= 1 slide; < 3mins talk)

2. Title of talk

3. Authors & affiliations 

4. Abstract (less than 300 words)

5. Keywords (1-5)

The workshop is a great opportunity for PhD/MSc students and Postdoctoral researchers to present their research so please encourage them to participate. We kindly request that staff and supervisors disseminate this announcement to  your undergraduate and postgraduate students.
